Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- With the approach of the Day of the Sun (April 15), the birthday of President Kim Il Sung, many people in the DPRK are visiting Mangyongdae, his birthplace in the city of Pyongyang. In Mangyongdae there is a hill called Mangyong in Korean, which means that one can command a bird's-eye view of a myriad of landscapes. On Mangyong Hill near the Taedong River there are such historic sites as Study Site, Wrestling Site and Spring Kim Il Sung had used in his childhood. Located at the foot of its southwestern part is his native home. The hill is covered by ever-green pine trees and other various species of plants, including maple tree, fir, lilac, apricot, peach and azalea. In every April, it looks like a piece of painting with beautiful flowers in full bloom. On the hill there is the Mangyongdae Pavilion, where visitors would get a bird's-eye view of natural sceneries in and around Mangyongdae as well as different parts of the city. |
