Present at the ceremony were Choe Ryong Hae, Ri Yong Gil, Jang Jong Nam and other officials of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces and commanding officers of the KPA.

The participants paid tribute to the portraits of smiling Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

A speech was made by KPA Vice Marshal Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA.

He said all the service personnel paid highest respects to the Generalissimos and extend best wishes for immortality to them on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.

He went on to say:

Thanks to the outstanding Songun revolutionary leadership of the Generalissimos, the revolutionary armed forces of Korea which were organized in the thick forest of Mt. Paektu could lead the Korean revolution in the van while defending the party and the leader, the country and people for decades and thanks to their rare wisdom and outstanding foresightedness the eternal prosperity of the nation has been firmly guaranteed.

The feats of the Generalissimos who ushered in the Juche era and Songun era with their prominent ideological and theoretical activities and extraordinary leadership and dedicated their whole lives to the sacred revolutionary cause for the prosperity of the country and happiness of the people will shine in the history of the country for all ages.

All the service personnel are filled with steadfast faith and will to defend the exploits the Generalissimos performed in army-building, consolidate in every way the single-minded unity of the entire army with the Supreme Commander as the monolithic center of unity and leadership and guarantee with arms the final victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche and the revolutionary cause of Songun pioneered from Mt. Paektu.

All the participants chanted the slogans representing their faith and will to glorify for all ages the Generalissimos' Songun revolutionary history and exploits and devotedly defend the Supreme Commander with arms.

There took place a match-past of the officers and men of the army, navy and air and anti-air forces of the KPA and cadets of the military academies at all levels and students of revolutionary schools.
