At the press conference the organizations recalled that the Seoul City authorities submitted an administrative suit calling for closing Jaju Minbo to the Inchon District Court at the instigation of the "government", the "Saenuri Party" and conservative forces.

They termed the move to close a legitimate media institution a symbol of the dictatorial politics.

Jaju Minbo, founded in reflection of the desire for reunification, has fulfilled its mission amid support and encouragement of fellow countrymen, despite all suppression and pressure, they said, and went on: However, the anti-reunification forces are labeling Jaju Minbo as "one following the north", regarding it as a thorn in their flesh. Not content with this, they are trying to close it by invoking the "Security Law".

This barbaric violence little different from that of the "yusin" dictatorship will be condemned by not only all Koreans but mankind.

The organizations called upon all people to turn out in the action to defend the progressive press.

The organizations demanded the Seoul City authorities immediately cancel the administrative suit.
