His field guidance to Pyongyang Senior High School No. 1 at that time on April 28, Juche 73 (1984) marked a historic occasion in bringing about an epochal turn in the nation's meritocracy.

It received Order of Kim Il Sung, congratulatory messages of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and won Honored Thrice Red Flag.

Many teachers were awarded the title of Labor Hero, watches bearing the august name of President Kim Il Sung, commendations of Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, Kim Il Sung Youth Honor Prize and Kim Jong Il Youth Honor Prize and became people's teachers and merited teachers.

Among them are more than 70 awardees of academic degrees and titles.

At least 440 students became winners of the July 15 Honor Student Prize and their ranks are steadily increasing.

More than 80 students were awarded Kim Il Sung Youth Honor Prize, Kim Il Sung Children Honor Prize, Kim Jong Il Youth Honor Prize and Kim Jong Il Children Honor Prize.

Many students won special places and first places at national math contests, multi-subject contests, program contests and scientific conception contests.

Students of the school bagged 13 gold medals, 22 silver medals and 9 bronze medals at international math Olympiads which brought together hundreds of excellent students from many countries and regions.
