Noting the KPA is the revolutionary armed forces fighting against U.S. imperialism, the statement said:

Under the guidance of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, the KPA, which carried forward the brilliant traditions established during the anti-Japanese armed struggle, demonstrated its might as a powerful army prevalent with revolutionary comradeship and one-match-for-a-hundred steel-strong combat ranks.

The KPA inflicted an ignominious defeat upon U.S. imperialism during the past Fatherland Liberation War. In the post-war period it humbled the arrogance of the U.S. imperialists through the cases of the armed spy ship Pueblo, the EC-121 large spy plane and Panmunjom incident, etc.

The might of the KPA remarkably grew stronger politically, ideologically and in military technique under the guidance of the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il who put forward the KPA as a driving force of the revolution.

The KPA has been provided with powerful weapons and equipment and war deterrence for self-defence under the wise guidance of the great Generalissimo Kim Jong Il and the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un.

The 82 year-long history of the struggle of the KPA, a vanguard unit of the Songun revolution is, indeed, a brilliant history in which it has always emerged victorious in the showdown with hostile forces including U.S. imperialism.

Only victory and glory will be in store for the KPA in the future, too, under the leadership of Kim Jong Un.
