President Kim Il Sung visited the power station on April 29, Juche 53 (1964) and proclaimed its commissioning. He made sure that the national event marking May Day was held in Kanggye with splendor and gave important instructions on more than 200 occasions.

Leader Kim Jong Il visited the power station on June 15, 1999 and settled all the issues arising in keeping production going at a high rate. He saw to it that a hero medal was awarded to Generator No. 2 of Power Station No. 3 where Kim Il Sung put a starting button.

The workers, technicians and officials of the power station greatly contributed to stepping up economic construction and improving the standard of people's living through a drive to overfulfill the plan for electricity production.

The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea sent a message of thanks to the workers, technicians and officials of the power station.

A meeting took place on Tuesday.
