DPRK Workers Proud of Their Devoted Efforts for National Prosperity

Pyongyang, May 1 (KCNA) -- The workers of the DPRK are significantly greeting the May Day. In the DPRK the workers have always displayed great patriotic enthusiasm in the efforts for the prosperity of the country. Soon after the liberation of the country from the Japanese colonial rule, Korean workers successfully restored blast furnaces destroyed by the Japanese imperialists. In the period of the Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950-July 1953), they made a huge contribution to winning the brilliant victory in the war by supplying war materials in a do-or-die spirit. After the war that ruined the whole country, they successfully produced water pumps, excavators, tractors and electric locomotives by their own efforts and kindled the flame of the great Chollima upswing by turning out 120,000 tons of rolled steel at the blooming mill with a rated capacity of 60,000 tons. Thanks to their devoted efforts, the DPRK was able to turn itself into a socialist industrial nation in a brief period of 14 years. In the 1970s and 1980s, they ushered in a heyday of construction in Pyongyang City. In the 1990s, they, encouraged by the revolutionary soldier spirit, created the Kanggye Spirit to make enormous economic achievements, thus paving a way for building an economic giant. It was none other than President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il who set up the working class as the driving force of society and the working masses as the master of their destiny for the first time in history and showed boundless loving care for them. Their loving care for the working class has been brilliantly carried forward by Marshal Kim Jong Un. It serves as a driving power to make the workers perform fresh miracles and innovations in the economic construction and improvement of people's livelihood. |
