Rodong Sinmun Warns Japan against Its Exercise of Right to Collective Self-Defense

Pyongyang, May 13 (KCNA) -- The chief secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan during his recent trip to the U.S. gave a lecture in Washington at which he asserted that Japan's exercise of its right to collective self-defense would lead to bolstering up deterrence in the Asia-Pacific and it is in line with the U.S. strategy. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday observes in a commentary in this regard: This reveals the Japanese reactionaries' wild ambition to rush headlong into overseas expansion and reinvasion, backed by the U.S. What the chief secretary uttered is no more than sheer sophism painting a wrong picture of the crisis in the region and its solution, the commentary says, and goes on: In case Japan is allowed to exercise its right to collective self-defense, the Asia-Pacific region may find itself in a state of more horrible war than it did in the first half of the last century. The U.S. okayed the Japanese ruling quarters' moves to allow the exercise of the right to collective self-defense. Japan's exercise of the right to collective self-defense may conform with the U.S. strategy but it is a very dangerous action harmful to the Asia-Pacific region. Japan requires it for launching overseas expansion and reinvasion. The Japanese authorities, however, should bear in mind that both times and equilibrium of forces have changed. Japan had better always bear in mind that if it makes a desperate bid to revive militarism with the U.S backing, it would become the first to face deadly strikes in contingency. |
