14th May 21 Architectural Festival Closes
Pyongyang, May 15 (KCNA) -- The 14th May 21 Architectural Festival was closed with due ceremony at the Central Youth Hall Thursday.

The participants in the festival exchanged achievements and experience they gained in the work for solving the issues arising in successfully building monumental edifices and developing architectural science and technology of the country.

Such pieces for prize contest as "Changes," "White Sail" and "Golden Ball" representing the development of the Juche-oriented architecture drew attention of the participants for reflecting the high level of formative art in the construction of buildings.

Highly appreciated at the festival were construction designing programs and multimedia including combined control system for fountain and sprinkling in greenery in the park of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and guide to indoor decoration of multi-function service center and such papers as "On Architectural Formation of Haedanghwa Service Complex, Modern Service Center" and "On Decision on Scope of Tourist Destination in Consideration of Tourists' Needs and Capacity of Tourist Resorts".

Present at the ceremony were Ri Jun Hyok, director of the State Designing Guidance Bureau who is chairman of the Central Committee of the Architects Union of Korea, officials concerned and officials, architects, technicians, teachers, researchers, creators students in the fields of construction and fine arts.

The jury of the festival announced the results and the successful units and individuals were awarded commendations and prizes.

Sim Yong Hak, vice-chairman of the C.C., the Architects Union of Korea, in his closing address called upon all the officials, architects, technicians, teachers, researchers and creators to build more splendid monumental edifices representing the era of the Workers' Party of Korea.

He stressed the need to consolidate the achievements made in the scientific researches and positively introduce them to practices and further develop the architectural science and technology of the country through a dynamic drive for breaking through the cutting edge and thus make positive contributions to ushering in a new era of prosperity in the construction.
