Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- Prof. Kyung-Ae Park of University of British Columbia in Canada has worked hard for the development of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the DPRK. Recently Park, together with economic experts from various countries, toured different areas of the DPRK, including Rason, Chongjin, Orang, Sinphyong, Nampho and Wonsan, to make field survey for SEZ development. Then she had, with the Korea Economic Development Association, a knowledge sharing on SEZs at the Yanggakdo International Hotel in Pyongyang under the Canada-DPRK knowledge partnership program. Introduced at the sharing were the actual conditions and prospect of the Chongjin economic development zone and the Orang agricultural development zone as well as the prospect for developing Wonsan-Kumgangsan area. And a discussion was made on the general view of their master plans and practical problems related to the zones. Park told at the sharing that they could have a deep understanding of the DPRK's reality during the field survey of SEZs. What they saw and felt in the DPRK are its hope, potential and efforts for the economic construction, she said, adding: Everything is now at the beginning, but the DPRK will surely make a signal progress in the economic development when its people strive with the stand that they look out over the world, keeping their feet firmly planted on their land. |
