When public at home and abroad became increasingly vocal chiding Park's unpopular rule and barbarian killings, the south Korean puppet group let the Broadcasting and News Agency Committee distort detailed news of the sinking accident. It is, at the same time, further intensifying the examination of news items and putting media under control, making sure that news favorable to it was reported.

It went the lengths of hurling a huge police to block the scene of the accident and restricting and banning the news coverage of the bereaved families of the victims. It kicked off even a racket of preventing media persons from reporting about mass anti-"government" actions against the Park regime across south Korea.

This is another hair-raising inhuman crime rubbing salt in the wounds of the bereaved families and other people of south Korea, the spokesman said, and went on:

Media persons are thrown into prisons after being handcuffed for the mere reason that they brought to light irregularities and corruption of society and called for fair reporting and progressive media institutions are in the danger of closure, becoming a target of suppression. This is the real picture of south Korean media.

The Park group is trying hard to gag media through horrible fascist violence which put the bloody "yusin" dictatorship into the shade. But it can never conceal the truth.

The group will have to pay dear price for its thrice-cursed crimes committed against the fellow countrymen and the nation.

We are convinced that conscientious journalists and media persons of south Korea will condemn the Park group's unpopular rule and moves for confrontation with fellow countrymen, more energetically wielding the pen of justice, and more dynamically turn out in the righteous struggle to bring the murderers to a court.
