Anti-"government" Candlelight Actions Staged in S. Korea

| Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- Anti-"government" candlelight actions took place in Seoul, Kwangju, Taegu, Jeju Island, Ansan of Kyonggi Province, Kimhae of South Kyongsang Province and other parts of south Korea on Saturday to denounce the puppet group which caused the ferry Sewol sinking disaster, according to south Korean CBS. A candlelight rally was held at Chonggye Plaza, Seoul. Attending it were members of civic and public organizations including the Confederation of Trade Unions and the Citizens Solidarity for Democratic Society and other masses, more than 30 000 in all. At the rally speakers urged the authorities to probe the truth about the accident, institute a special law on it and punish those responsible for it. At the end of the rally the participants staged a demonstration, chanting "Bring our children to their lives!" and "Institute a special law!" The fascist police mercilessly suppressed demonstrators, walking off 115 of them. |
