U.S. Attempt at Armed Buildup in Asia-Pacific Region under Fire

Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Defense Department worked out an operational plan to deploy two Global Hawks in its air force base in Misawa, Japan by the end of this month as part of its intensified spy activities in Northeast Asia including Korea. The U.S. armed buildup got into full swing in the Asia-Pacific region under the pretext of the "threats" from the DPRK, says Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a commentary. It brands the reinforcement of armed forces in the vicinity of the Korean peninsula as a vivid manifestation of the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK. It continues: The U.S. has the world's biggest stockpile of modern three strategic nuclear strike means and a worldwide network of military bases. Yet, it claims the DPRK's efforts to defend its inviolable territory pose "threats", an insensible and ridiculous nonsense. The U.S. attempt at the armed buildup in the Asia-Pacific region under the pretext of the "threats" from the DPRK is aimed to hold a military edge and contain several big powers in the region by force. Washington continues to find fault with the DPRK to serve its purpose of laying an encircling ring around those powers while not triggering off a backlash from them. It is clear that those big powers all see through the U.S. crafty intention. The U.S. desperate moves to spread the story about "threats" from the DPRK and bring more armed forces to the areas around the Korean peninsula will only compel the DPRK to put spurs to bolstering its deterrence for self-defence. |
