Japan's Exercise of Right to "Collective Self-Defense" Rejected by Its People: Minju Joson

Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- According to the national opinion poll conducted by the Kyodo News some time ago, 51.3 percent, the majority of the respondents, was opposed to the move of the government and the Liberal Democratic Party to allow the exercise of the right to "collective self-defense" through the revision of the interpretation of the constitution. This means that the exercise of the right to "collective self-defense" which the present regime of Japan is raising as an important political task is rejected by its people, says Minju Joson Tuesday in a commentary. The Japanese people do not doubt even a bit that the government's move to exercise the right to "collective self-defense" is a dangerous choice leading Japan to the fatal ruin. They already drank a bitter cup of the defeat in the war. The war ignited by Japanese militarism imposed not only untold misfortune and pain on the Asian people but also huge damage on the Japanese. Nevertheless, the present government of Japan is pushing ahead with the exercise of the right to "collective self-defense," going against the mindset of the people. This is aimed to ignite another war and achieve the goal for militarist overseas aggression, thus realizing its old dream of "Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere" at any cost. However, to unleash a militarist overseas aggression war will lead Japan to a bottomless pit. The Japanese reactionaries should lend an ear to the voices of the people opposing a war and stop at once the dangerous political ploy. |
