Ri Chung Il, Promising Boxer of DPRK

| Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- Ri Chung Il, a boxer of the Pyongyang Sports Team, recently bagged a gold medal in the 52kg category at the international boxing tournament named after Konstantin Korotkov held in Khabarovsk, Russia. Ri also took the first place at the tournament last year. Ri, born into a worker's family in Sangwon County, North Hwanghae Province, was trained to be a boxer at Juvenile Sports School in Sangwon County. Later, he was picked out to be in the Pyongyang Sports Team. He proved successful at domestic tournaments and the 25th Asian boxing championships held in China in 2009. Ri Yong Sik, head of the Pyongyang Sports Team, told KCNA that Ri Chung Il is training hard to win more gold medals in the coming tournaments. |
