Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- Big efforts have been paid to the protection and development of nonmaterial national heritages in the DPRK. In the recent years the Guidance Bureau for the Preservation of National Heritages has registered a number of nonmaterial national heritages on the list of those to be protected by the state. Among them are the Korean people's favorite song "Arirang", national sports "Ssirum (Korean wrestling)" and music and dance "Yonbaek Peasant Dance". They also include famous national foods and drinks like "Pyongyang Cold Noodle" and "Makkoli (Crude liquor)" and traditional national customs "Method of Making Kimchi". Under the legal guarantee for the protection of nonmaterial national heritages, the drive has been pushed forward to find out more national heritages and refer to historical data. On the other hand, the guidance bureau is also paying attention to further encouraging the protection of nonmaterial national heritages and registering them on the list of the World Heritages in close connection with UNESCO. |
