Dinko Zhelev, head of the Organizational Department of the National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, was elected chairman of the committee.

It decided to give wide publicity to the revolutionary career and undying feats of the President and organize colorful political and cultural events including a remembrance meeting and seminar on his feats.
