Sports Contest for Pochonbo Torch Prize Opens

| Hyesan, June 4 (KCNA) -- A sports contest for Pochonbo Torch Prize opened in the DPRK on the occasion of the anniversary of the victory in the battle of Pochonbo commanded by President Kim Il Sung during the anti-Japanese armed struggle. It will be held in Pyongyang, Phyongsong, Hamhung, Nampho and other places. Its participants will compete in at least 30 events including football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and marathon race. An opening ceremony took place at the Hyesan Stadium in Ryanggang Province on Wednesday. Present there were officials concerned and sports persons and working people, youth and students in Hyesan City. Kim Pyong Sik, vice-minister of Physical Culture and Sports, made an opening address. At the end of the ceremony a football match was held. |
