Genaro Ledesma Izquieta, chairman of the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru, was elected chairman of the committee.

The committee decided to widely introduce the revolutionary career and feats of the President and organize colorful political and cultural events including remembrance meeting and film show on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his demise.
