14th Anniversary of June 15 North-South Joint Declaration Marked by Koreans in Uzbekistan

Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- Koreans in Uzbekistan held a meeting on June 2 to mark the 14th anniversary of the publication of the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration. Present there were the chairperson of the "Old Men" Association for Korean Cultural Tradition in Uzbekistan and officials of the association, the editor-in-chief of Thongil paper, the chairwoman of the women's association, heads of Korean art troupes and other compatriots. The charge d'affaires ad interim of the DPRK embassy in Uzbekistan and his embassy officials were present there on invitation. Chairman Ju Yong Il said in his address that the north-south joint declaration provided by leader Kim Jong Il serves as important guidelines in the action to achieve the country's reunification. Eye-opening events took place in the inter-Korean relations and the struggle for achieving the country's reunification in the course of implementing the joint declaration which reflected the spirit of By our nation itself, he noted, adding: All Koreans in the June 15 era of reunification keenly realized in practice that the implementation of the declaration leads to the reunification of the country and the prosperity of the Korean nation. The inter-Korean relations have reached a grave phase owing to outside forces' obstructions, he said, calling for turning out as one in the action to implement the declaration, bearing deep in mind the vitality of the joint declaration. A bright prospect is in store for the country's reunification and the nation as they are under supreme leader Kim Jong Un, he noted. Then, a performance was given by Korean artistes. |
