Papers Mark Anniversary of June Popular Resistance
Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- The June popular resistance was the righteous all-people resistance recorded in the history of south Koreans' struggle against the U.S. and fascism, say papers Tuesday.

Traitor Chun Doo Hwan designated Roh Tae Woo as a "presidential" candidate on June 10, 1987. This kicked off a massive resistance that swept across south Korea all at once.

Much upset by this, traitor Chun desperately kicked up the discriminate crackdown racket with lots of riot police involved, but in face of the strong spirit of unity and resistance displayed by the people, he could not but publish a "special declaration" to accept the demand of the people.

The June Popular Resistance was an eruption of the pent-up resentment of the people against the Chun group which resorted to the unprecedented acts of sycophantic treachery, fascist crackdown and anti-reunification moves and against the U.S. imperialists who sought to turn south Korea into their permanent colony by instigating the Chun group, says the papers.

Rodong Sinmun in an article notes that the staunch fighting spirit and precious soul of the fighters of the June Popular Resistance call upon the south Korean people to wage a massive struggle for independence and democracy against the U.S. and fascism and for national reunification.

Independence, democracy and reunification can be achieved only through massive and staunch struggle against dictators who stand against them, the article notes.

Minju Joson in an article says that it is an urgent task of the era for the south Korean people to turn out in the massive resistance for independence, democracy and national reunification against the U.S. and fascism by inheriting the spirit displayed by the resistance fighters.
