S. Korean Authorities' Suppression of Teachers Union under Fire
Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- Leading members of the Teachers Union of south Korea (TU) staged a hunger strike in Seoul on June 9 in protest against the puppet authorities' crackdown upon it, according to south Korean KBS.

As already reported, the Park Geun Hye regime has persecuted the TU, regarding its activities as a thorn in its flesh. It kicked up a fresh racket of suppression, taking issue with its internal rules last year.

The regime pressurized the TU to modify its rules which recognize the discharged persons as its members.

It threatened to disqualify the TU as a trade union in case it fails to do so.

The puppet group finally sent a notice to the TU on October 24 in which it declared the TU outside the law and has since worked hard to legislate on this.

In protest against this, the TU filed a lawsuit with a court demanding the retraction of the above-said action. The leading members of the TU launched a hunger sit-in in the run-up to the first trial slated to take place on June 19.

The strikers declared that the regime's action was obviously part of the repressive campaign against the TU.

They urged the "government" to rescind the unreasonable action at once before the court makes a decision.
