Hailstones that fell in Central District and several other districts, Pyongyang and in Kusong City, North Phyongan Province were 15-20mm in diameter and those that hit Kwanghung-ri, Sinyang County, South Phyongan Province were 5-25mm in diameter while those that fell in Nampho City and Jaeryong and Anak counties, South Hwanghae Province were 10 mm in diameter. Hailstones 8mm in diameter also fell in Unpha County, North Hwanghae Province.

Unpha County, North Hwanghae Province and Anak County, South Hwanghae Province registered 30mm and 40mm downpours respectively in just one hour.

On Wednesday afternoon there was 40mm heavy rain accompanied by hailstones 10mm in diameter in Chonma County, North Phyongan Province.

Experts say that such atmospheric phenomena can occur often.
