Milton Burbano Borquez, chairman of the Ecuadorian Cultural Institute for the Study of the Juche Idea, was elected chairman of the remembrance committee.

The committee decided to widely introduce Kim Il Sung's career and revolutionary exploits and organize political and cultural events on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his demise.
