S. Korean Media Assail Park Geun Hye for Turning away from Public Demand

Pyongyang, June 14 (KCNA) -- Media of south Korea accused Park Geun Hye of informally designating an ultra-rightist conservative media man as "prime minister." The south Korean paper Hangyore in an editorial on June 10 recalled that Park nominated Mun Chang Guk, former chief editor of the south Korean paper Choongang Ilbo, as "prime minister." Mun has been censured as an ultra-rightist media man, the editorial noted, adding: He once revealed his conservative nature by taking the lead in finding fault with welfare policies. Right after Park took office, Mun competed for the post of the director general of the Foundation for Promotion of Media under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tour but was forced to drop out. This means that the present "government" is about to appoint the man, whom it once estimated as not to be qualified to be the chief of an local self-governing body, to the post of supervising the state administration. Park should know that even the ruling camp estimates the results of the recent elections as a yellow card to her unilateral state administration. The south Korean internet paper Voice of People carried an editorial titled "Dark shadow to be cast by nomination of ultra-rightist prime minister" on June 11. The editorial recalled that Mun groundlessly accused and slandered through media Kim Dae Jung and Roh Moo Hyun in the past while praising Syngman Rhee, Park Chung-hee and other erstwhile dictators. After the elections to local self-governing bodies, Park trumpeted about what she called reshuffle. One can easily imagine what kind of reshuffle it is in the measures taken by her for personnel affairs. The nomination of Mun is casting a dark shadow on the future of the south Korean society. It is because the reshuffle planned by Park is nothing but a signal that she would bring the era of ultra-rightist dictatorship back to south Korea. The editorial branded the Park regime as the "one that does not seek understanding" as it turns its face away from the public demand. |
