Rodong Sinmun notes that to preserve and implement the north-south joint declaration is the only way for the Korean nation to live.

It goes on:

The historic June 15 joint declaration serves as a declaration of independent reunification and a declaration of the great national unity which solemnly demonstrates at home and abroad the will to independently settle the issue of national reunification by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation.

The eye-opening reality in the north-south relations and the movement for national reunification after the publication of the north-south joint declaration proved that the idea of By Our Nation Itself serves as an engine for instilling the will for reconciliation and unity into all Koreans and putting the movement for national reunification on the orbit of independence.

The north-south relations which favorably developed together with the June 15 era of reunification was pushed to a total collapse after the Lee Myung Bak group took office in south Korea.

The south Korean ruling forces are talking about "unification" with watchwords "confidence-building process", "the doctrine of gaining a great opportunity of unification" and "the Dresden declaration". This is an open denial of the north-south declarations, pursuant to their ambition to do harm to the DPRK in collusion with foreign forces.

The prevailing situation proves that if Koreans preserve and implement the north-south joint declaration, the road to reunification and prosperity will be paved and if not, it will bring nothing but confrontation and war.

It is no doubt that when all the Koreans in the north, the south and abroad vigorously struggle, holding invariably and high the banner of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration as the banner of independent reunification, the movement for national reunification will advance dynamically and great progress in the June 15 era of reunification be made.

Minju Joson says that no matter how desperately the group of anti-reunification traitors is working, they can never quell the aspiration of fellow countrymen to achieve the national reconciliation and unity and independent reunification by implementing the joint declaration.
