Papers Call for Meeting Challenges of Anti-Reunification Forces under Banner of June 15 Joint Declaration

Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- Papers here Sunday dedicate editorials to the 14th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration. There took place here the north-south summit in June, Juche 89 (2000), the first of its kind in the history of national division, and the historic June 15 joint declaration was adopted there, a special event of great significance in accomplishing the cause of independent reunification of the Korean nation, say the editorials.

The adoption of the joint declaration brought the dawn of the stirring June 15 era of reunification to this land over which the curtain of confrontation heavily hung, Rodong Sinmun says, and goes on:

Signal successes have been made in the north-south relations that were unimaginable in the past, Koreans demonstrated to the world its oneness and the October 4 declaration was adopted to lay a firm foundation for independent reunification, peace and prosperity. These are all associated with the meaningful June 15 joint declaration.

The Korean nation's struggle for implementing the June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration accompanied fierce confrontation with anti-reunification forces.

The present south Korean authorities have gone desperate in their moves to realize the criminal ambition for unification of social systems by depending on foreign forces and escalating confrontation with fellow countrymen in the north, quite contrary to the joint declarations just as the Lee Myung Bak regime brought back the era of confrontation by totally negating the above-said declarations.

The June 15 era of reunification was full of joy for reconciliation, unity, peace and reunification, but cold air of mistrust and confrontation, tensions and dark clouds of war are now hanging over this land. This eloquently proves the validity of the said declarations and the inevitability of their implementation.

The requirements of the times and desire of Koreans can never be a plaything of traitors to the nation who stand against reunification. With nothing can they block the trend of the history toward independent reunification, peace and prosperity.

All the Koreans should pool their efforts and deal a heavy blow at the anti-reunification forces.

Minju Joson says that it is the steadfast and principled stand of the DPRK government to join hands with those who support the June 15 joint declaration and struggle for its implementation in the road for reunification and patriotism.

The DPRK will as ever join hands with those who support the inter-Korean declarations and fight for national reunification under the banner of unity, not questioning their past, irrespective of their political view, religious belief and ism.
