Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Life Science Faculty of Kim Il Sung University have completed a new method of producing glucoamylase by culturing fungi with non-grain by-products like rice-chaff and sawdust. Glucoamylase, one of microbial enzymes, is widely used in the field of food industry. In the past, Glucoamylase was usually made from grain such as maize or wheat. The new method has been proved successful, lowering production costs and cutting down the grain consumption by 50 percent. The method was awarded a national invention certificate for its high economic effectiveness. |
