The statement went on:

The June 15 joint declaration, the core of which is the idea of By Our Nation Itself, is the banner of independent national reunification for all the Koreans in the north and the south and overseas. It is a landmark for Korea's reunification reflecting the will and desire of all the Koreans for reunification.

Korea should be reunified by the Korean nation with its own efforts according to their will and demand. There is no reason for outside forces to interfere in the issue.

Historically the U.S. has staged all kinds of large-scale joint military exercises with south Korea, threatening peace and security of the Korean peninsula and the rest of the world.

The south Korean authorities run amuck in their anti-reunification moves against the nation, totally denying the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.

So, the grave touch-and-go situation is prevailing on the Korean peninsula where a war may break out any moment.

We bitterly denounce the south Korean authorities for desperately trying to realize the daydream of "unification by absorption" while driving the north-south relations into a catastrophe.

We demand the south Korean authorities stop all the moves aggravating confrontation and tension on the Korean peninsula and respect and implement the joint declaration.
