Rodong Sinmun Blasts U.S.-S. Korea War Drills against DPRK

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- The past more than six decades witnessed ceaseless U.S.-south Korea war exercises against the DPRK, the largest-ever in the world and the most dangerous in their nature, says Rodong Sinmun on Tuesday in a commentary. It goes on: South Korea witnessed more than 18 000 war drills against the north after the ceasefire, counting only those opened to media. These war drills were nothing but preliminary and test wars targeting the DPRK from A to Z. The targets of these saber-rattlings were not the DPRK only. Such war drills in south Korea and in its vicinity are becoming evermore provocative and aggressive in their nature. This would be unthinkable without the U.S. pivot to Asia-Pacific strategy. The essence of the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK is war. We neither beg for peace nor are afraid of war. The DPRK has experience in which it won the war with the multi-national aggressor forces grouping the U.S. imperialists and their 15 satellite states, the south Korean puppet troops and the Japanese militarists in the last century when it was very young. As long as the powerful nuclear deterrence is reliably defending the sky, land and seas of Songun Korea, it will never allow the repetition of the tragic history of Korea in which the Korean nation fell victim to the scramble of big powers for influence in the past. The U.S. is keen to recklessly use its military force against the DPRK, obsessed with its theory that military muscle is all-powerful. But it would be well advised to bear in mind that its "myth of being the world's only superpower" will be shattered to smithereens. The U.S. had better stop its reckless war drills at once, properly understanding that the DPRK is no longer what used to be in 1950. |
