Minju Joson Demands Pullback of U.S. Forces from S. Korea and Japan

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialist aggressor forces stationed in south Korea and Japan should be withdrawn at once in order to put an end to the GIs' crimes in those regions, holds Minju Joson on Tuesday in a commentary. Inhabitants in the areas occupied by U.S. forces are undergoing unspeakable misfortune and pain, the commentary notes, and goes on: They are suffering severe damage mentally and physically due to the crimes being committed by GIs almost every day. GIs' crimes in those regions are mainly attributable to the U.S. arrogant standpoint of regarding south Korea and Japan as its scapegoats and its strategy for dominating Asia. It is the U.S. strategic scenario to have grip on south Korea and Japan as outposts and strategic bases for carrying out its strategy for dominating the Asia-Pacific region, enforce its military hegemonic policy in this region and lord it over for an indefinite period. The U.S. has no interest in respecting the sovereignty and dignity of south Korea and Japan. The U.S.-south Korea and the U.S.-Japan "Status of Forces Agreement" and the agreement on the U.S. forces status in Japan do not allow the south Korean and Japanese authorities to exercise their rights to legal action against GI criminals as it regards them as mere junior allies. Consequently, the GIs in south Korea and Japan enjoy extraterritorial privileges and go scot-free even after they commit felonies. As long as south Korea and Japan are tightly shackled to the U.S. aggressive strategy for dominating Asia and U.S. forces are present there, GIs' crimes can never be stopped and the local people can never be free from constant uneasiness and fear. |
