Otete Gaston Mboyo, deputy general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the DR Congo who doubles as chairman of the DR Congo-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Association, was elected chairman of the remembrance committee.

The committee decided to hold political and cultural events to praise the revolutionary career of the President and his exploits between June 15 and July 8.
