Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 50th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK). On this occasion, streets across the country are decorated with party flags, national flags and red flags, as well as posters. Seen in different places are decorative letters "Great Guidance", "Undying Feats", "The Eternal Sun of the Great Paektusan Nation" and "Immortality". A large number of people have visited the statues of Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and the mosaics picturing them in various parts of the country to pay floral tribute to them. The Korean Revolution Museum in Pyongyang and revolutionary battle sites and revolutionary sites in Mt. Paektu and other areas have been crowded with visitors. Colorful art performances were given at theatres to mark the day. A concert "Cantata to Comrade Kim Jong Il" was given by the National Symphony Orchestra at the Moranbong Theatre to praise the undying feats Kim Jong Il performed in strengthening the WPK into the Juche-type revolutionary party. The Mansudae Art Troupe put on the stage a music and dance performance "We Will Follow the Party with Single Mind", the National Theatrical Troupe the drama "Woman Comrade of Mt. Paektu" and the Phibada Opera Troupe the revolutionary opera "Tell O Forest". The National Circus also gave a circus show. Employees of ministries and national institutions, including the Ministry of Mining Industry and the Ministry of Coal Industry, enjoyed the day, holding sports events such as volleyball, table tennis, Korean chess and Yut (go). The same is true of the workers in the Chollima Steel Complex and builders of power stations in tiers along the Chongchon River and the stockbreeding base now under construction in Sepho area. |
