Dry Spell Lingers in DPRK
|
|
Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- The DPRK has been experiencing exceptionally dry weather. The drought started early in spring continues until now in most areas. Less than 10 mm rainfall has been witnessed in Pyongyang, Nampho City, North and South Phyongan provinces and North Hwanghae Province from June 7, while no rainfall in Taedong County, South Phyongan Province and Kophung County, Jagang Province. Experts say it is the worst drought since 2001. The temperature in most areas is higher than the average, worsening drought damage. The drought has damaged the earlier crops like wheat and barely, giving adverse effect on the growth of maize. Now co-op farms throughout the country have taken due measures to minimize the drought damage. |
