Pyongyang, June 26 (KCNA) -- Wonsan University of Fisheries in the DPRK developed tin-free bearing alloy (8 components), which can be substituted for tin bearing alloy (babbit-83). The alloy is used as material of sleeve bearing for marine engine, driving shaft of electric locomotive, big generator and motor, rolling mill, crusher and other machines. Hwang Chol Man, one of its developers, told KCNA: The research group of the university developed tin-free bearing alloys (6 components and 7 components), superior to tin bearing alloy (babbit-83) in technical property, in the 1980s and early 1990s, which won invention diplomas and medals at the international exhibition of inventions and new technologies and other international exhibitions. On this basis, the group produced a new kind of tin-free bearing alloy with eight components, better than the existing alloys in mechanical property. This alloy is 5 times less in abrasion rate, 2.5 times higher in adhesion, 2.3 times higher in strength and 1.7 times stronger in heat resistance than tin bearing alloy (babbit-83). It has been already introduced to different fields of the national economy, proving its big effect. |
