DPRK Schoolgirl Yu Pyol Mi Wins Acclamation in Int'l Piano Festival

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- Yu Pyol Mi, 13 year-old schoolgirl of the DPRK, won great acclamation in the Second Gradus International Piano Festival held in Denmark from June 17 to 22. Invited to the festival were famous pianists and promising young pianists of seven countries including the DPRK, Russia, Germany and Italy. Yu Pyol Mi performed two times on June 17 and 20. She successfully played famous songs created by world famous composers with high artistic skill to be highly acclaimed by the audience. Piano experts were unsparing in their praises of Yu, saying that 13-year-old young pianist jolted the stage of the festival. Prof. Martin Jepsen, chief director of art of the piano festival, said that Yu caught the attention of the audience with her fascinating performance. Yu has high skill and rich musicality and her performance is beautiful and characteristic, the professor added. Assistant Prof. Valeria Resjan at the Music Academy of Finland said: I watched many times through websites Pyol Mi playing the piano and was surprised by the fact that so many accesses were made to the website to see the video and hundreds of articles on their impressions of her performance were posted. Prof. Vera Nosina at the Music Academy named after Gnesin of Russia expressed belief that Pyol Mi would make steady leaping progress and become world's famous pianist. At the end of the performance Yu Pyol Mi said that all the children in the DPRK bring their talents into full bloom under the warm care of Marshal Kim Jong Un who is putting forward children as king. |
