Rodong Sinmun Calls for Doing Proper Act for Ensuring Peace on Peninsula

Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- Anyone who truly wants the peace and security on the Korean peninsula should clearly understand the essence of the issue and do proper act, says Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in an article. It goes on: Experts of some countries in the international issues are claiming that the situation on the Korean peninsula is tense due to the DPRK's nukes. This is little different from the brigandish assertion made by the U.S. as it is a profound confusing of right and wrong. The peace does not settle on the peninsula 61 years since the ceasefire in Korea and the danger of a nuclear war is increasing there entirely because the U.S. is pursuing its anachronistic hostile policy toward the DPRK. The denuclearization of the peninsula is the behests of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and it is the policy task which should be certainly realized by the DPRK. This can be achieved only when the U.S. gives up the hostile policy toward the DPRK and nuclear threat posed to it from outside is totally terminated. The situation prevailing on the peninsula is so tense that a nuclear war may break out any moment due to the U.S. moves to stifle the DPRK. Therefore, it is self-evident that the DPRK cannot abandon nukes, the powerful physical strength capable of deterring a nuclear war. The DPRK's nuclear deterrence is not any political and economic bargaining chip but a powerful treasure sword to defend the sovereignty of the country and the dignity of the nation. Explicitly speaking once again, the U.S. should give up its hostile policy toward the DPRK and stop nuclear threat to it. This is the basic way of denuclearizing the Korean peninsula and ensuring peace there. |
