Chinese Paper Introduces Kimilsungia, Kimjongilia

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- Chinese Huan Qiu Shibao carried an article dedicated by its correspondent residing in Pyongyang titled "Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia loved by Korean people" on June 30. The paper said: Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia are among the most famous flowers in the DPRK. Kimilsungia is an orchid plant cultivated in Indonesia. It is said that Indonesian President Sukarno named the flower Kimilsungia in reverence for President Kim Il Sung when he visited Indonesia in 1965. Kimjongilia is a perennial plant of Begonia family cultivated by Mototeru Kamo in Japan. He named the flower after Kim Jong Il and presented it to him on his 46th birthday in 1988. The Korean people really love these two flowers. On the national holidays of the DPRK including the birth anniversaries of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia festivals are held with splendor at the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition on the bank of the River Taedong. The festivals are visited by lots of people, an indication of reverence of the army and people of the DPRK for Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. |
