Kim Il Sung, Elder Statesman Recognized Worldwide
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- It has been 20 years since President Kim Il Sung passed away on July 8, Juche 83 (1994).

Kim Il Sung was a world-recognized prominent leader and a great elder statesman in the 20th century.

In his lifetime, he met with a total of 70,000 foreigners in 136 countries to make contributions to the cause of global independence. During his foreign trips alone, he met 120 heads of state on 1,982 occasions, 206 party leaders on 2,236 occasions and 76 heads of government on 833 occasions.

After Korea's liberation from the Japanese colonial rule, he had paid official and unofficial visits to 87 countries on 54 occasions and in 685 days, which covered over 522,460 kilometers.

The President fathered the immortal Juche idea and authored more than 10,800 works to show the road for the Korean people and the world progressives to follow.

He won 180-odd highest orders and medals from at least 70 countries and international bodies, honorary citizenships from 30-odd cities and the titles of honorary professor and doctor from 20 celebrated universities in the world. He also received 165,920 pieces of presents from party, state and government leaders and personages in 169 countries and compatriots overseas and in south Korea.

The world progressives are still conferring orders, medals and honorary titles on the President while presenting many gifts to him.

The immortal feats of Kim Il Sung will be remembered forever and his glorious history will continue along with the prosperity of Songun Korea.
