Army and People of DPRK Commemorate Greatest National Mourning Day

Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- The army and people of the DPRK commemorated the 20th anniversary of demise of President Kim Il Sung (July 8, 1994). On the greatest national mourning day, an endless stream of service personnel, people from all walks of life, school youth and children flowed to the statues of the President and portraits of smiling President in Pyongyang and other parts of the country. People laid floral baskets, bouquets and flowers before the statues of the President and paid highest tribute to him. Service personnel, working people and school youth and children entered the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the supreme temple of Juche, and made bows toward the portraits of smiling Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. Memorial services and meetings took place in provinces, cities (districts), counties and industrial complexes to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the President's demise on the same day. All party members, service personnel and other people observed a moment's silence in memory of the President. Revolutionary drama "Following the Banner of Victory" was staged at the National Theatre here. Remembrance concerts were given in provinces including South and North Phyongan, North Hwanghae, Jagang, North and South Hamgyong provinces. Remembrance concerts were also given by members of shock brigades in the project sites of the power stations in tiers on the Chongchon River and the stockbreeding base in the Sepho tableland. The performers sang high praises of the immortal feats of the President. |
