The statement noted:

President Kim Il Sung established the social system centered on the popular masses in the DPRK and set a good example in accomplishing the human cause of independence with his outstanding leadership.

He performed great feats in accomplishing the cause of Korea's reunification.

He set forth fair and reasonable reunification proposals such as the three principles of national reunification, the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo and the ten-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation and vigorously led the movement for national reunification, opening up a rosy vista of Korea's reunification.

He also sincerely helped many countries in their efforts for national independence and independent development and energetically led the socialist movement, the Non-Aligned Movement and other progressive movements so that they remain faithful to their ideas and principles.

Although he passed away, his idea and cause are given a steady continuity.

I and all members of the Socialist Party of Benin pay highest tribute to him on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his demise.
