Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung in his lifetime had shown deep loving care for many party leaders, heads of state and personages of different countries. When former Yugoslav President Tito passed away, Kim Il Sung personally went to Belgrade and warmly consoled the bereaved family members and the Yugoslav people. Thanks to Kim Il Sung's comradeship and support, former Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, who was living in exile, could rise to fame as an Arab hero. Kim Il Sung called Che Guevara his revolutionary comrade and, after his heroic death on the battlefield, published a famous work to the memory of his revolutionary life. He also encouraged presidents of African countries in their struggle for achieving national liberation and building a new society. Among them were former Mozambican President Samora Moises Machel and former Namibian President Sam Nujoma. Kim Il Sung had always valued the friendly relations with Otto Grotewohl, former chairman of the Council of Ministers of East Germany, and bestowed benevolence upon the bereaved family after his death. He praised former Chilean President Salvador Allende Gossens, whom he met once, as a revolutionary and a hero for waging an unyielding struggle for his political faith. He put forward Martyr Zhang Weihua of China and Nobichenko, a former officer of the Soviet army, as models of internationalists and took warm care of their families. Fidel Castro Ruz, former president of the Council of State of Cuba, recalled with deep emotion that he would never forget the solidarity and support rendered by Kim Il Sung to the Cuban revolution and people. Among those who were deeply moved by the great personality of Kim Il Sung were former Portuguese President Francisco Da Costa Gomes, former French President Francois Mitterrand, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, former Vice-Prime Minister of Japan Sin Kanemaru, a U.S. religionist Billy Graham and others. |
