Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- A brisk campaign is still going on in the DPRK to reduce the damage from long drought. The persistent drought in most areas of the country, including North and South Hwanghae provinces and Nampho City, has badly affected the grain production. Under the situation, the Ministry of Agriculture and provincial, city and county agricultural guidance organs and co-op farms concentrated all means and efforts on the combat against drought. A measure was taken to make an effective use of electricity in the countryside. Keeping various kinds of water pumps and sprinklers in full capacity operation, servicepersons and civilians across the country have turned out in a drive to water paddy and non-paddy fields. Big efforts were given to utilizing to the full wells and pools and securing water resources. The farms strive to lessen the rate of water evaporation from dry fields as much as possible through plowing and urge the water caretakers to ensure the management of rice-paddy irrigation in a responsible manner. |
