The organization said it carried the ad for the purpose of sparking off bitterer accusations against the south Korean present regime which put the south-north relations to rock bottom in violation of the agreement with the north on halting slanders and calumnies against the other side and continues the suppression of progressive organizations for national reunification and their officials.

In the ad the organization demanded the south Korean authorities stop at once the suppression of the Unified Progressive Party and progressive organizations for national reunification, set free the arrested pro-reunification officials, lift the "May 24 step" and ensure the NGOs' movement for national reunification.

It called for bringing about an epochal phase of mending the south-north relations under the unfurled banner of the three principles of national reunification--independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity--and the June 15 joint declaration.
