The statement expressed full support to the special proposal of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and its government statement calling for bringing about a new turning phase of national reunification. It went on:

Both the special proposal and the statement are very just as they reflect the desire of all Koreans to improve the north-south relations, avert the danger of a war, create an atmosphere of peace and achieve the co-prosperity of the north and the south.

If the south Korean authorities free themselves from their conception of confrontation of groundlessly antagonizing fellow countrymen, there will be neither reason nor pretext to refuse to accept the DPRK's offer.

The south Korean authorities must bear in mind that all fellow countrymen are following the approach of the south side towards the sincere proposal of the DPRK.

The statement expressed the will to exert positive efforts to translate the peace-loving, fair and aboveboard proposal of the DPRK into a reality.
