Congress of Korean Sportsmen's Federation in Japan Held

Pyongyang, July 16 (KCNA) -- The 22nd Congress of the Korean Sportsmen's Federation in Japan took place in Tokyo on July 12. Attending it were Pae Ik Ju, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), Kim Sang Il, its permanent member, Kim Ro Hyon, chairman of the federation, and other deputies. Read out at the congress was a congratulatory message sent by Marshal Kim Jong Un to the 23rd Congress of Chongryon. Ri Chong Gyong, director general of the Standing Council of the federation, made a report. He said that the federation actively conducted the work to contribute to the building of a sports power of the homeland and the work for the country's reunification and external activities, thus registering great achievements. He said that the federation would make tangible contributions to building sports power of the homeland and realizing the cause of Korea's reunification and conduct brisk external activities. A congratulatory message from the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the DPRK on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the formation of the federation was read out to be followed by speeches. Pae Ik Ju in a speech said that the federation and sportspersons should make sincere contributions to opening up a new heyday of Chongryon through sports activities as they received the loving care and benevolence of the peerless great men of Mt. Paektu. Kim Ro Hyon was reelected chairman of the federation. A letter to Kim Jong Un was read out. After the congress there was an enlarged meeting of the first session of the 22nd Standing Council of the federation. |
