S. Korean Ruling Forces' Persecution of Bereaved Families of Ferry Sewol Disaster Assailed

Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- The conservative ruling forces came under fire by an editorial of Kyunghyang Daily News of south Korea on July 14 for watching and incriminating bereaved families of victims of the ferry Sewol sinking disaster. The editorial recalled that the bereaved families have been on a hunger strike in Seoul since July 13 in demand of the institution of a special law for thoroughly probing the truth about the Sewol disaster, severely punishing those responsible for it and preventing the recurrence of the similar accident. What matters is that the "government" and the ruling party which are responsible for the disaster are watching the bereaved families as suspected criminals and insulting them with unspeakable invectives, far from feeling guilty, it charged, adding: When those bereaved families staged a march to Daejon via Paengmok Port on Jin Island from Ansan City to seek a speedy rescue of those missing, detectives of the Kongju Police Station shadowed them, riding cars, only to be spotted. Detectives belonging to the Intelligence Department of Tanwon Police Station were also spotted while shadowing families of victims and an intelligence police officer was caught red-handed at Jindo Stadium to face a strong protest. The above-said actions against the bereaved families go to prove that the tears shed by not a few "government" authorities including the "president" and promises made by them in the "apology to the people" were no more than hypocrisy and lies to tide over crisis. |
