Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- Progressive organizations of Britain including the Britain-Korea Friendship Association expressed full support for the statement of the DPRK government on July 7. In a joint statement they fully supported the statement of the DPRK government calling for putting an end to the confrontation between the north and the south of Korea and settling the issue of reunification in a peaceful way. The joint statement went on: The situation on the Korean peninsula is getting so extremely tense that even the slightest case may spark off a military conflict and bring disaster. In view of the gravity of the acute situation, the DPRK government took a bold and important measure for durable peace and improvement of the inter-Korean relations on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the last autograph left by President Kim Il Sung on the historic document related to reunification. The south Korean authorities should honestly implement the points agreed in the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, renounce their stance of relying on foreign forces and stop at once provocative war drills against the DPRK. The statement of the DPRK government indicates that it will take fresh measures and make sincere efforts for peaceful reunification of the country under the guidance of Marshal Kim Jong Un in the future, too. The south Korean authorities should positively and earnestly accept the just measures taken by the DPRK and make a positive response to them. |
