Swimming Encouraged in DPRK

Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- July and August are the months for maritime physical culture in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. In the period, swimming pools, water parks and beaches across the country are crowded with citizens, schoolchildren in particular, every day. Groups of schoolchildren are now seen at the Rungna People's Pleasure Park, the Munsu Water Park, the swimming pool of Changgwang Health Complex and other swimming and wading pools in Pyongyang. In this regard, KCNA had interviews with those enjoying at the pools. Choe Hi Dok, a teacher of Janghyon Primary School in Moranbong District, Pyongyang, said at the wading pool in Mangyongdae Amusement Park: Any children in a maritime country should be good at swimming. So, all the pupils at my schools are now earnestly learning to swim. Kim Son Hwa, a worker of the Pyongyang Essential Foodstuff Factory, said: It's my routine to enjoy at the swimming pool of the factory after work. My daughter, a kindergartener, began learning how to swim at this pool. At present, beaches in the east and west coastal areas, including Songdowon International Children's Camp, Majon and Ryongsupho, are packed with many schoolchildren and other citizens from different parts of the country. |
