The editorial accused the authorities of clarifying on July 18 it would totally open the rice market from January 1 next year and impose high tariff to this end.

It criticized the "government" for concealing such unfavorable problems as the possibility of sharp increase of compulsory rice import in case the high tariff is applied.

It demanded the chief executive settle the situation, saying that there is no ground for the "government" to exist as it does not represent the interests of the people.
